Every three years, Government, Catholic and Independent schools across Australia participate in the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC).

The AEDC is a population measure of how children have developed by the time they start their first year of full-time school, and provides evidence to support health, education and community policy and planning.

The next AEDC data collection will commence in Term 2 on May 1 and close on 21 June 2024. Queensland Catholic primary schools had a 100 per cent participation rate with the survey instrument in 2021 and are aiming to achieve the same participation standard this year.
