This week QCEC hosted the first face-to-face training day for candidates undertaking the Assessor Training Program (ATP) to qualify as an Assessor for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher certification processes.
The ATP offers participants a deeper knowledge and understanding of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST) which supports teacher efficacy and student outcomes, as well as providing nationally recognised training as an Assessor. This training day was led by the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) key personnel, Senior Manager-Certification, Rochelle Larsen, and Principal Advisor-Certification, Adam Malheiros.
The second training day is scheduled in February 2024 with training to be completed in April 2024. The Assessors-in-training also complete online learning modules to support their understanding of the Assessor Role.
Attendees represented Brisbane Catholic Education, Townsville Catholic Education, Catholic Education – Diocese of Rockhampton, and Diocese of Toowoomba Catholic Schools. Two of the Assessors-in-Training have already achieved Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher certification and bring their additional expertise to the Assessor role.
