Catholic sector welcomes review appointment

The Queensland Catholic Education Commission has welcomed today’s announcement that former Queensland Family and Child Commissioner Cheryl Vardon will lead the review of the accreditation framework for non-State schools.

QCEC Acting Executive Director Chris Woolley said a contemporary, fit for purpose accreditation framework is an important part of ensuring that schools are delivering the high-quality education.

“Cheryl Vardon will bring to the review of the current accreditation framework her deep experience with children and young people in a range of educational and other settings,” Mr Woolley said.

“Queensland families rightly expect they will receive that high-quality schooling for their children regardless of which type of school they choose.

“The review provides an opportunity to thoroughly analyse the current system which has been in operation for the last five years against the needs of students, families, schools and systems.

“As the largest provider of non-government schooling, the Catholic sector looks forward to close consultation with Ms Vardon throughout the review process,” Mr Woolley said.
