Hear from Assistant Principal Religious Education Natalie McCosker on what inspires her in her role

Helping students build relationships is a key part of supporting them to grow and learn according to Spirit of Catholic Education Award recipient Natalie McCosker.

Natalie is Assistant Principal Religious Education at St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School, Emerald and received her award in 2021 for the outstanding integrity she displays in leading her school community through strong faith-based relationships. She leads St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School in all aspects of religious life and is the face of evangelisation.

Natalie’s commitment to organising and presenting the sacramental program to the wider community in her own time is one small example of her leadership. She also inspires, trains, and encourages students in their calling as altar servers as well as facilitating children’s liturgy. Her ability to attract volunteers and train them in this mission is wonderful.

Natalie has been the driving force in embedding the Making Jesus Real program throughout the school. She developed a whole school approach to the teaching and learning of these principles. To model best practice, Natalie worked with all staff to impart a deeper understanding of the underlying intent and purpose of the program. Each week, Natalie delivers high quality lessons to all classes within the school. This allows the teachers to observe high quality instruction in action and all students in the school benefit from Natalie’s expertise.
