AI-Supported Planning for Inclusive Education
Join us for a practical, hands-on workshop exploring how approved AI tools can support inclusive curriculum planning, strengthen access and participation for students with diverse learning needs, and help educators work efficiently while maintaining professional judgement, curriculum integrity and student privacy.

What to expect
This workshop is practical and grounded in the principle that AI can support teacher thinking, not replace it. Through guided activities and collaborative review, participants will consider how AI can help manage planning complexity, reduce documentation load and make stronger connections between curriculum expectations, student needs, reasonable adjustments and evidence. Participants will:
- Explore what responsible AI use can look like in inclusive education, including key considerations for privacy, accuracy, bias, cultural sensitivity and approved enterprise environments.
- Use strengths-based and dignity-led approaches to keep student access, participation and belonging at the centre of planning.
- Apply a structured process to a current curriculum planning task and begin developing a practical planning output.
- Work with colleagues to review and refine planning outputs, strengthening links between curriculum expectations, student access, reasonable adjustments and evidence.
- Identify practical next steps for using the learning in school or system contexts, including ways to support colleagues as responsible AI users.
Who should attend
Registration is open to staff from Queensland Catholic schools and school systems, including:
- School and system leaders, teachers, learning support teaching staff, and those who support planning for students with diverse learning needs
- Staff interested in becoming AI champions or supporting colleagues to use AI responsibly and effectively in their context
Program
Participants must bring with them:
- A current piece of curriculum planning work to develop during the session
- Relevant curriculum, planning, adjustment, or evidence documentation
- A laptop or device with access to the platform

Professional Standards
The workshop supports professional learning aligned with selected Australian Professional Standards for Teachers relevant to inclusive practice, curriculum planning, responsible technology use and legislative obligations.
- Standard 1.6 – Strategies to support full participation of students with disability: Design and implement teaching activities and reasonable adjustments that support access, participation and learning.
- Standard 2.6 – Information and Communication Technology: Use approved technologies, including AI tools, to support teaching practice and curriculum access.
- Standard 3.2 – Plan, structure and sequence learning programs: Plan coherent learning experiences that maintain curriculum integrity and incorporate appropriate adjustments.
- Standard 4.5 – Use Information and Communication Technology safely, responsibly and ethically: Consider privacy, accuracy, bias, cultural sensitivity and responsible use when using AI to support planning.
- Standard 7.2 – Comply with legislative, administrative and organisational requirements: Consider obligations related to disability standards, student privacy, approved technology use and evidence requirements.
