Queensland Catholic school sector welcomes investment in anti-vaping education

The Queensland Catholic Education Commission has welcomed today’s announcement that the Palaszczuk Government has committed $5 million to allow all Queensland secondary schools access to the innovative alcohol and drug education program the Blurred Minds Academy.

QCEC Acting Executive Director Steven Jeffery said this announcement will build on the efforts of schools tackling issues in this space.

“Reducing the prevalence of vaping related incidents in schools is a high priority across all education sectors and providing schools with a comprehensive range of resources to assist in the management of these incidents and education of students is critical,” Mr Jeffery said.

“Catholic schools in Queensland have been working with the Blurred Minds Academy since 2021 to provide personalised support to teachers and families and relevant and meaningful education for students in an effort to change their beliefs and behaviours around alcohol, drug use and vaping for the better.”
