Queensland Catholic school teachers shine at HALT Summit

Queensland Catholic schools made a significant impact at the recent Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher Summit in Sydney.

Setting a record, 15 certified teachers from Queensland Catholic schools took part in the event, organised by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL).

“It’s always inspiring to see so many exceptional and dedicated teachers come together to share their experiences and ideas,” Bernadette Moodie, Education Officer at the Queensland Catholic Education Commission (QCEC) said.

“The strong presence of Queensland Catholic school teachers at the summit celebrates the incredible work our educators are doing.”

As more certified teachers join the Queensland Catholic school sector, Bernadette emphasised the importance of providing these experienced educators with opportunities to collaborate and learn from one another.

“Certified teachers in our sector are not only recognised for their expertise but also serve as valuable resources for their colleagues demonstrating positive impact on their colleagues and students,” she added.

For those Queensland Catholic teachers applying for certification in 2024, the submission window is open from Monday May 20 to Monday June 3. Candidates submit portfolios directly to the Queensland College of Teachers.

In addition, the upcoming #HATCHAT and #LEADFEED session on August 6 offers an excellent chance to learn from some of the sector’s certified teachers. This event aims to provide insights and guidance for those interested in pursuing certification in 2025 and beyond.

“We encourage all teachers committed to professional growth and quality teaching to attend the session and learn more about the certification process. We’re committed to recognising, supporting and celebrating our educators as they strive to progress to the higher career stages,” Bernadette said.
