Diocese of Rockhampton: Meaning for Life Initiatives
The Diocese of Rockhampton’s Catholic Education system has implemented two notable initiatives that demonstrate the integration of faith, learning, and social responsibility: The Acquisitive Sacred Art Competition at Emmaus College and the Tenants’ Monthly Meal at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School. At Emmaus College, students explore their faith through creative arts by reflecting on the Emmaus story and the college motto “Light My Way,” while St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School’s monthly meal program, inspired by the Mercy Tradition and motto “With Christ We Grow,” involves students and staff preparing and sharing meals with St Vincent de Paul housing tenants. Both initiatives align with the Queensland Catholic Education Commission’s Mission in Practice Framework, fostering students’ intellectual, spiritual, and emotional development while promoting social responsibility through creative expression and community engagement.
