Loreto College - Year 10 Social Justice Immersion
Loreto College’s Year 10 Social Justice Immersion program, rooted in the Mary Ward principle of seeking truth and justice, prepares young women through a comprehensive curriculum focusing on environmental sustainability, homelessness, vulnerable populations, refugees, and indigenous awareness. Using a Head, Heart, Hands, and Feet model, the program combines intellectual understanding with emotional empathy and active participation through project-based learning and immersive experiences. The initiative, which aligns with the Queensland Catholic Education Commission’s Mission in Practice framework, has demonstrated success through measurable service hours and personal impact, resulting in significant attitudinal changes, increased community engagement, and spiritual growth among students, effectively creating a generation of young women motivated to drive positive societal change.
