Townsville Catholic Education - The Good Shepherd Way
The Good Shepherd Way, launched in 2019 and informed by the Enhancing Catholic School Identity (ECSI) project, uses artistic representations of the shepherd and flock to deepen Catholic identity and foster community awareness and care. The initiative has proven successful through strong teacher participation, personalised student engagement with symbols, and curriculum integration, leading to improved community cohesion, behavioral management, and pastoral care. This innovative approach exemplifies new evangelisation by combining traditional elements with modern engagement strategies, employing experiential learning and symbolic meaning to create a more inclusive, dynamic, and spiritually enriched educational environment that aligns with the Queensland Catholic Education Commission’s Mission in Practice Framework.
