Catholic schools across south-east Queensland will close tomorrow (Monday 28 February 2022) as the area continues to deal with the unfolding flood emergency.

The Premier announced this afternoon that all schools in the south-east would be closed to ensure the safety of communities across the region.

Catholic schools in the following Local Government Areas (LGAs) will be closed tomorrow:

  • Brisbane
  • Ipswich
  • Moreton Bay
  • Sunshine Coast
  • Noosa
  • Gympie
  • Somerset
  • Gold Coast
  • Logan
  • Redlands
  • Scenic Rim
  • Lockyer Valley.

There may be individual school closures in some other LGAs and schools will communicate directly with families in these instances.

Queensland Catholic Education Commission Executive Director Dr Lee-Anne Perry said thoughts and prayers were with all affected communities across the south-east.

“This is an unfolding situation and the safest thing for students and staff in the south-east tomorrow is to remain at home if possible.

“Catholic schools will continue to monitor the situation in their local areas and we will be working with the Queensland Government to ensure schools are able to reopen as soon as it is safe to do so,” Dr Perry said.
