Congratulations to the 30 educators who were selected as finalists in the 2022 Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) TEACHX Awards.

The awards recognise the extraordinary contributions of registered Queensland teachers and leaders from all schooling sectors. 

Two Queensland Catholic school educators were among the finalists including Visual Arts Teacher, Leanne Shead, from St Monica’s College, Cairns, and Assistant Principal Identity and Global Advocacy, Isikeli Kubunameca, from St James College, Brisbane.

Ms Shead was selected under the Dr Alan Druery OAM Excellence in Teaching Award category. Her experience spans 28 years across NSW and Queensland, where her role for the last 11 years has demonstrated excellence as both an educator and as Head of Faculty, the Arts from 2015-2020. 

Mr Kubunameca received recognition in the Merline Muldoon Memorial Award for Innovation in Teaching category. As the leader of St James College’s Advocacy and Identity Program, Mr Kubunameca oversees initiatives that spotlight diversity, social justice and global citizenship.

Winners of the TEACHX Awards will be announced at an awards ceremony in Brisbane on Thursday 27 October. Read more about the finalists on the QCT website here.
