Tribute to Dr Sally Towns 

Catholic Education Queensland Limited (CEQL) celebrates the life and service of Dr Sally Towns, Executive Director of Brisbane Catholic Education, who passed away in Brisbane on Saturday after a long illness. 

CEQL Chair Madeline Brennan, KC, said: 

“Dr Sally Towns made an invaluable contribution to Catholic education, not just in Queensland but also in leadership roles in Tasmania and New South Wales. 

In all she did, Dr Towns was focused on advancing a shared vision for a faith-filled, inclusive, high-quality Catholic education sector.  

She brought to her work a strategic mindset and intellectual rigour underpinned by her deep personal faith.  

Dr Towns demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the common good of the Catholic education sector and to enriching the lives of the young people in Catholic schools.  

Throughout her long health battle, Dr Towns maintained that focus with characteristic determination and good humour.  

Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and her Catholic education colleagues at this time.  

Dr Towns’ contribution to Catholic education has been profound and we will proudly carry on her legacy.”
