New Executive Director

The Bishops of Queensland have named an education leader from Western Australia as the next Executive Director of the Queensland Catholic Education Commission (QCEC).

Allan Blagaich who is currently Executive Director of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority in Western Australia will take up his new role in September.

QCEC’s Independent Chair the Hon. Margaret White AO said Mr Blagaich’s appointment was the result of a nationwide search for a new Executive Director.

“Allan Blagaich brings to QCEC experience as a former teacher, school principal, and an education policy and curriculum leader,” Mrs White said.

“This experience makes him the ideal person to lead Queensland’s peak body for Catholic education and I am certain he will advocate strongly for the state’s 312 Catholic schools and 29 Catholic kindergartens.

“QCEC has been serving Catholic education for 50 years and we look forward to Allan joining our efforts to support and advance Catholic education into the future,” she said.

Mr Blagaich replaces Professor Lee Anne Perry who was the previous Executive Director prior to her appointment as professor at QUT.
